Introduction of CAMPUS Asia Double-Degree Program

The CAMPUS Asia Double-Degree Program (DDP) aims to raise leaders in medical science and public health to solve global health problems, such as non-communicable disease, dementia and other age-related diseases. This program provides students with the opportunity to obtain simultaneously two Ph.D. degrees (each granted by one university), after accomplishing study and research at both universities and successfully fulfilling the requirements of each institution. This program is cooperatively established by Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine with the partner universities in Korea and China. Students will obtain the sense of ethics, harmony and comprehensiveness, and flexible ways of thinking as well as logical thinking.

Admission Policy

Based on Osaka University’s Admission Policies, in order to nurture personnel suited to its education objectives, the Graduate School of Medicine is looking for individuals who:

  • meet the knowledge requirements noted below and aim to contribute to the advancement in medicine, medical care, and life science.
  • aim to secure quality of healthy life for the local community as medical professionals.
  • hope to assist in nurturing excellent personnel responsible for the next generation. The doctor’s course welcomes persons possessing these qualities:
  • English proficiency capable of reading theses written by western researchers and writing theses in English.
  • An undergraduate level of knowledge necessary for conducting research in medicine and life science as well as a master's course or higher level of basic knowledge in a specialized area.
  • An excellent sense of purpose and a sense of ethics necessary for conducting medical research.

2. Application Eligibility

Individuals who received recommendation from home university, and meet each of the following criteria are eligible to apply for Doctoral Course.

② Individuals who have received or expect to receive their master’s degree in Japan before the date shown on the right. 30th Sep, 2023 31st Mar, 2024
③ Before the date shown on the right, Individuals who have received or expect to receive the equivalent of a bachelor's degree through the completion of coursework which requires five (5) or more years of study at an overseas university or school (limited to schools evaluated by organizations that are certified by overseas governments, or relevant agencies, on the comprehensive progress of their education and research, or schools which are designated separately by the Minister of MEXT). 30th Sep, 2023 31st Mar, 2024
④ Individuals who are at least 24-years of age before the date shown on the right, can be recognized, by passing a qualifying review conducted by Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine, as possessing academic abilities equivalent or superior to ○1, ○2 or ○3 level, and as having academic capabilities equal to or exceeding those of an individual who has completed a Course in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy or Veterinary Medicine
* For the qualification○4, application documents must be submitted to Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine Campus Asia Office 3 months prior to the “Application Period” starts.

3. Application Process

Applicants should hand deliver or mail (registered mail by Japan Post or International Courier Services with tracking number from overseas) the following documents to the Graduate School of Medicine CAMPUS Asia Office(Address refer to 1. Admission Schedule).The documents submitted will not be returned. Successful applicants will enroll in the first grade of Doctoral Course of Graduate School of Medicine. Course standard period duration is 4 years, regardless of your present grade or the course duration of your home institution.

※ For 2023 October Admission Applicants, the English Test should be taken after 2021 May.
※ For 2024 April Admission Applicants, the English Test should be taken after 2021 September.
※ The scores of TOEFL ITP, TOEFL iBT Home Edition, IELTS General Training Module and TOEIC IP are invalid.
※ TOEFL iBT: Only Test Date Scores are available. MyBest Scores are invalid. * TOEFL Test Taker Score Reports, downloaded/printed out from My Home page (personal account site) are invalid.
* Any scores submitted after each application period are not accepted.

• Original Certificate issued by the president of schools attended.(written in English)
• Certificates must have either the original and official signature/stamps of the school authorities or with anti-counterfeiting paper.
• Individuals who have completed/are expected to complete multiple universities and graduate schools should submit certificates from each and every program.
• For those who have completed undergraduate or graduate programs abroad, a degree certificate is also required if it is not included in the Certificate of Graduation Completion
5 Academic Transcript • Original Certificate issued by the president of schools attended. (written in English)
• Certificates must have either the original and official signature/stamps of the school authorities or with anti-counterfeiting paper.
•Individuals who have completed more than one undergraduate or graduate program should submit certificates from each and every program.
•Individuals who have transferred to other schools should submit certificates from each school. (Including the case of withdrawal from school.)
6 Copy of Passport Applicants should submit a copy of one’s own passport that shows one’s name, nationality and photo
  • Please contact GAKUSEISHIEN-KAKARI (Student Support, Educational Affairs Section; i-kyomu-gakuseishien@office.osaka-u.ac.jp) you have any questions during application.
  • If the application documents contain any falsifications, admission may be revoked even after the student’s admission.
  • Changes are not allowed to the application for admission after submission.

4. Selection Method

 Successful applicants are selected on the basis of the materials submitted if necessary interview and the evaluation by the prospective supervisors.

5. Announcement of Successful Candidates

 Successful applicants will receive acceptance letter along with documents relating to admission process through CAMPUS Asia Office by Osaka University School of Medicine.
 If successful applicant does not finish the register procedure within a defined period of time which defined in documents relating to admission process, it results cancellation regardless of any reason.

6. Others Notes

  • Names, addresses, and other personal information obtained through the application procedure will be used in the entrance examination process, announcement of the successful applicants, admission procedures, and to distribute program leaflets. Also successful applicants’ information is used for special registration course selection.
    For those admitted to Osaka University, personal information will also be used in academic-related matters (such as keeping academic and registration records), in student support matters (such as health care management, school fee remissions, scholarship applications, career support, etc.), and in school fee management.
  • The information obtained through the entrance examination such as grade statistics and analysis will be used for research on admission methods. Also successful applicants’ information is used for special registration course selection.
  • To process the admission, personal data obtained from the entrance examination process may be delegated to a third party with a contract to protect the information of individuals.
  • These procedures are written in both Japanese and English. Should any discrepancy in wording or nuance occur between the two languages, note that the Japanese version takes precedence.
