- Summary of this article：This study identified strategies to address inequity in refractive error services across Western Pacific sub-regions. Eye care professionals participated in a two-round online process, nominating and ranking underserved groups and improvement strategies. 75 participants from 17 countries completed the study. Priority groups varied by region, including indigenous peoples, refugees, and rural populations. Common strategies included reducing costs, improving cultural safety, strengthening school eye health, and rural outreach. Results provide context-specific actions to improve service access for underserved populations in private sector-dominated models.
- 論文の要約：今、世界的に近視が増えています。そこで、西太平洋地域における屈折異常（近視や遠視など）に対する医療サービスの公平性を確保するための戦略を明らかにすべく、専門家パネルによるデルファイ法での課題抽出を行いました。眼科医療従事者を対象に2ラウンドのオンラインでの調査に参加し、屈折異常に対する十分なサービスが提供されているか、提供されていない場合は改善策の提案含め回答し、課題の優先順位のランク付けを行いました。17カ国から75人がこの調査に参加しました。優先課題は地域によって異なり、先住民、難民、農村部の人々などが優先対象となり、共通する課題への改善策の提案としては、コスト削減、文化的安全性の向上、学校での眼科保健の強化、農村部への働きかけなどが挙げられました。今後、解決できる視覚障害原因としての屈折異常に対して十分なサービスを受けることができていない人々へ医療サービス利用を改善するため行動を考える上での基礎資料になると考えています。
