- Summary of this article：This post hoc analysis of the J-RECOVER study examined factors associated with fungal infections in 559 severe COVID-19 patients requiring mechanical ventilation. Fungal infections occurred in 10.2% of patients. Univariate analysis identified age, D-dimer levels, remdesivir use, steroid use, and steroid duration as predictors. Multivariate analysis revealed that prolonged steroid use significantly increased fungal infection risk (OR per day: 1.01; p < 0.001). Sensitivity analyses confirmed these findings, emphasizing the need to monitor steroid duration in such patients.
