- Summary of this article：This study assessed the quality of life (QoL) in Japanese Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy (FECD) patients using the NEI VFQ-25. FECD patients (n=34) had significantly lower composite QoL scores compared to controls (n=13), particularly in distance vision and mental health. Interestingly, there was no significant correlation between corrected distance visual acuity and QoL scores within the FECD group. FECD negatively impacts QoL, even independent of visual acuity.
- 本研究は、進行性に角膜内皮が減少するフックス角膜内皮ジストロフィー(FECD)患者の生活の質（QOL）をNEI VFQ-25調査票を用いて評価しました。FECD患者群(n=34)は、対照群(n=13)と比較して、QOLの総合スコアが有意に低く、特に遠見視力と精神的健康の評価値が顕著に低い結果を示しました。一方で、興味深いことに、FECD群内では遠見時の矯正視力値とQOLスコアとの間に有意な相関は認められず、このことからFECD患者群では視力のみでQOLが決まるのではないこと、そして視力に関わらずQOLに悪影響を及ぼすことが示唆されました。（本研究は大阪大学・眼科学講座で行われたもので解析を支援させていただきました。）
