- Summary of this article：In 49 patients undergoing ascending aortic repair, electrocardiogram-gated CT (EGCT)–based assessments of elastic modulus and strain energy strongly correlated with ex vivo tensile testing. EGCT showed good-to-excellent reliability for stiffness and moderate reliability for deformation energy. This noninvasive method appears feasible for evaluating aortic mechanical properties and may improve risk stratification beyond size criteria.
