- Summary of this article：We followed 63,697 Japanese children to test whether TV/DVD time at age 1 predicts constipation at age 3. Compared with no exposure, risk rose stepwise with more screen time (adjusted ORs: 1.15, 1.22, 1.37, 1.53 for <1, 1–<2, 2–<4, ≥4 h/day; p-trend<0.001), with similar results in boys and girls. Longer early screen exposure was linked to higher constipation risk. Limiting screen time from infancy may help prevent chronic constipation.
