Summary of this article：On March 28, 2025, a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar. The tremors
reverberated across neighboring countries, causing significant damage in Bangkok, Thailand, where the collapse of a
high-rise building led to 13 deaths.
Urban cities like Bangkok are uniquely vulnerable due to high population density and the presence of skyscrapers
constructed without adequate seismic standards. Thailand must adopt comprehensive earthquake-resistant building codes
modeled after Japan’s Building Standard Act, which has undergone multiple revisions following major earthquakes.
Given the large number of foreign residents and tourists, multilingual disaster communication is also essential.
Official apps providing alerts and evacuation information, along with disaster preparedness training in the hospitality
sector, are crucial. Strengthening urban resilience requires robust infrastructure and inclusive crisis communication."
